Emergency restarting of a Gulf of Mexico platform
The challenge to the customer
When a major oil company platform
in the Gulf of Mexico needed immediate temporary power, they turned
to Aggreko. Due to technical difficulties, the on-board generators
were shut down leaving the platform without power and a possible
expensive production shutdown.
Aggreko's solution
In just two days, Aggreko had eight
800kW, 480V generators on site. Less than two days later, the
generators were powering the platform. As this solution proved
economical, the company converted the generators to a long-term
lease.
The benefits to the customer
“This was our first experience with
Aggreko. They performed so well, we won’t hesitate to use them
again. We are very impressed,” said the project's supervising
engineer.
